Montréal, QC Canada – Ocean Trout Canada is pleased to announce proposals with Perennia Food & Agriculture Inc. for new value-added product development initiatives. Perennia is a Nova Scotia-based development agency focused on the development of the seafood and agriculture industries. The company maintains a wide range of industry support resources including technical consulting, product development and CFIA-certified pilot plant capabilities.
These projects will focus on the following areas:

1. Branded consumer products – assessment of new fish product trends in this sector including consumer sentiment and taste trends, development of innovative formulations (flavourings, convenience, and preparation) and packaging. The objective will be to produce a number of new branded consumer products highlighting convenience and the latest consumer taste trends supported by a quality assurance and production plan.
2. Waste value recovery – Perennia will conduct a by-product assessment of Ocean Trout’s processing waste with the intent of identifying new product development options. Perennia would assess marketplace trends with the objective of developing the highest value product applications. Current product trends in this sector include pet foods, nutritional supplements and cosmetics.
